Cotswold Airport Open Weekend ’26 Offers Family Fun and access to Aviation Legends including the Queen of the Skies

Aviation enthusiasts, families and visitors from across the South-West are invited to experience an unforgettable weekend of aircraft, entertainment and hands-on activities as Cotswold Airport opens its gates to the public for its annual Open Weekend.

Taking place on July 4 & 5th 2026, 10am – 4pm, the event offers a rare opportunity to get up close to and even inside some of the world’s most iconic aircraft, enjoy live entertainment and explore one of the UK’s most unique aviation destinations.

Among the headline attractions is the opportunity to step aboard the spectacular resident Boeing 747 ‘Negus’, giving visitors the chance to explore the “Queen of the Skies” from the inside. Visitors will also be able to board the luxurious Boeing 727 M-STAR, a VIP-configured airliner unlike anything normally accessible to the public.

Adding to the excitement, former Royal Air Force Buccaneers will perform high-speed taxi demonstrations, while visitors can view a remarkable collection of historic and modern aircraft, including a P-51D MustangSupermarine Spitfire Mk IX, aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, a Royal Navy Merlin helicopter and aircraft from Navy Wings.

The event will also feature more than 50 visiting aircraft alongside a wide range of family-friendly attractions, including:

  • Red Arrows flight simulator
  • Helicopter rides
  • Airside tours
  • Military vehicles
  • Classic cars
  • Steam engines
  • Gloucestershire Police displays
  • Animal handling experiences
  • Live music throughout the weekend
  • Food and drink vendors
  • Two licensed bars
  • Alpine Formula 1 show car display

The weekend will also host the vital local Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, whose helicopter and crew will be operating from the airport throughout the event, giving visitors a chance to learn more about the life-saving work carried out across the region.
